Course Description:
This course is designed to provide advanced clinical training and consultation in childhood trauma treatment. Participants are expected to have direct practice experience with the TF-CBT model, and have completed the TF-CBT Web Course, and attended a 2 day TF-CBT Training. This course will address common treatment barriers and provide strategies to overcome them. Participants will be provided with opportunities to practice clinical skills, and resources to use during supervision to evaluate fidelity to the model.
By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:
1.Discuss treatment accommodations for clients with complex trauma, multiple placements, disengaged or absence of caregivers
2.Recognize the importance of therapist management and therapy session structure in the treatment of trauma
3.Discuss the differences between “top down” and “bottom up” processing, and identify strategies to address both types of processing
About the Trainer:
Lisa Colliss is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Clinical Supervision & Training Manager at Community Solutions. Lisa has clinical and training experience in a variety of evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care, including TF-CBT, Seeking Safety, Mindfulness, and the use of movement and yoga in trauma work. She has served as a clinician in large community-based organizations, an inpatient psychiatric hospital and in private practice with experience providing individual and group therapy to clients of all ages.
CEUs: This course is approved for 6.5 hours of continuing education units for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California B.B.S. under CEPA Provider #129412.
