Course Description: 

This course is a basic introduction to leading mental health groups. It will focus on the group type and format, initial sessions, ethical and legal considerations, and how to navigate challenging interactions in a group.

By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Identify 5 different types of groups
  • Identify and implement legal and ethical considerations in groups
  • Gain basic skills in navigating problematic group interactions

About the Trainer: 

Adam Fonseca (he/they) is a proud UC San Diego Triton with a B.S. in Psychology and a passion for empowering others through education and connection. Adam has experience in the behavioral health and health services fields, most recently with Community Solutions, where they have served as a Rehabilitation Counselor, Program Supervisor, and now as a Facilitator. In these roles, Adam has supported individuals and families through complex challenges, bringing a people-centered approach to growth and healing. Adam’s areas of expertise include providing services to low-income children and their families, preventing child abuse, and ensuring access to compassionate care.

This course is approved for 2 continuing education hours for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California B.B.S. under CEPA Provider #129412, and for RADT, CADC, and LAADC by CCAPP-EI CADAAC Provider # 7213401223.

Community Solutions is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs. Community Solutions maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
