FREE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
Course Description:
This free training is for professionals working with youth and young adults to understand the dynamics ad intersections of teen dating violence, sexual assault, and commercial sexual exploitation. Participants will also learn about the role of confidential advocates, how to connect youth to services, as well as new engagement strategies.
By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the dynamics of teen dating violence, sexual assault, and commercial sexual exploitation of children, and how they can intersect;
- Utilize new safety planning and engagement strategies
- Understand the role of an advocate and how to connect a client to advocacy services; and identify additional community resources
About the Trainer:
Kim Gutierrez is the Program Manager for the Anti-Human Trafficking services at Community Solutions. She joined Community Solutions in 2009 as relief staff at La Isla Pacifica, the confidential shelter for survivors of intimate partner abuse. Since 2009, Kim has worked as an advocate for survivors of intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking, as well as providing community education, outreach and prevention on these topics. In 2012, Kim began working directly with local youth and young adult survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. Currently, Kim serves as the Chair for the Victim Services Committee of the South Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking, and led the workgroup of victim service providers who created the Victim Needs Screening Tool which assesses to see if an individual may have experienced or might be experiencing intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
CEUs: This course is approved for 6.5 hours of continuing education units for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California B.B.S. under CEPA Provider #129412.
