Course Description: 

This course focuses on a key element of the therapeutic process: the therapeutic alliance. The course will focus on the research supporting the effectiveness of the therapeutic alliance, strategies to build a strong therapeutic alliance, and how to identify alliance ruptures and then make repairs in the therapeutic alliance.

By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:

• How to articulate research findings of at least 2 meta-analyses on the effectiveness of the therapeutic alliance
• At least three strategies to build a strong therapeutic alliance
• Two broad types of alliance ruptures and know how to respond to repair the alliance.
