This course covers an introduction to assessing for and engaging with clients who are experiencing suicidal and/or homicidal ideation. It focuses on Joiner’s interpersonal theory of suicide and gives practical and actionable items for mental health professionals..

By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:

• Key observable signs and behaviors associated with suicidal and homicidal ideation, and the significance of changes in behavior, mood, and verbal expressions.
• Intervention strategies for immediate crisis management and de-escalation.
• Ability to apply at least 1 safety planning strategy
